i mentioned in yesterday's post about my golden birthday that i had been married two times. it raised a few questions in some of your curious minds so i thought i would clear up any confusion today. first off i have only been married to one chivalrous man going on 6 years this july. however i am from the buckeye sate {good ole ohio} and my hubs is from the cheese and beer state {the big WI}. so this presented a small problem when we wed. most of my husbands family and friends weren't able to come to our ohio wedding so the obvious remedy to the situation was to have a second wedding in wisconsin! hello! i surely wasn't complaining because i got to wear two, yes i said two, different dresses. every girls dream right?!
{i loved both dresses but my dress from the ohio wedding definitely had the winning back!}
{the happy couple after the ceremonies.}
even though it was crazy having two weddings we really did have a splendid time at both and they will forever be some of my dearest memories! we got married in ohio on july 15, 2005 and we renewed our vows 2 months later in wisconsin in september.
do you have a crazy wedding story? i'd love to hear about it! have a fabulous monday!
{candlelit ohio wedding ceremony} {candlelit wisconsin ceremony}
i guess i had a slight obsession with candles?!
{ginormous ohio wedding party.} {intimate wisconsin wedding party.}
{ohio wedding cake} {wisconsin wedding cake}

So...our wedding story has some fun twists in it. Joo wanted to move our wedding date from March 26 2010 to January 30 2010. So, we did. He did all kinds of research and according to past weather reports, January 30th (and some days before and after) didn't even have a trace of snow. The day before our wedding, this HUGE snow/ice storms comes rolling in that affected all of the South/Southeast from Oklahoma all the way to the Carolina Coasts. One of my bridesmaids was stuck at the airport in Kansas and was 8th on the waiting list for the next flight into Nashville. We prayed, she made the flight, and got in SUPER late Friday night. My dad was stuck at the Detroit airport from his flight from Boston, stayed the night at the airport, caught the first flight Saturday morning, and got to the wedding just in time...we just delayed the wedding by about 10 minutes, BUT HE MADE IT! :) The morning of the wedding, our photographer called and said she was stuck at home and couldn't get out of her driveway. Thankfully, our dear friends from OH who came in earlier Friday who were also doing our videography as a wedding present for us happened to bring their cameras; they took our wedding pictures for us AND did our videography. Joo's dad, who was supposed to officiate, got stuck at home in East TN with his wife, Joo's other sister, brother-in-law, and niece. Thankfully, Joo's older sister, brother-in-law and their kids made it (barely) Friday night. His (our) brother-in-law was also ordained and stepped in to do our wedding last minute. The rehearsal and rehearsal dinner was all set up at the church. Me and my other two bridesmaids helped clean and set up for a few hours for the whole affair, only to get stuck at the church. Joo and our friend Brandon had to come rescue us and we moved the dinner to the hotel rooms our guests were staying in. It was truly an eventful two days, but everything worked out even better than we planned, everyone was safe traveling there and back home, and we had the absolute BEST time of our lives!
Just as a side note...March 26 ended up being sunny, gorgeous, and 70 degrees :) lol.
i had the same situation. i wasn't as lucky as you though. i didn't have 2 weddings, but i had 2 receptions. we watched the video of the wedding at the second reception in kentucky.
Yeah, I'm totally jealous that you got to wear two different dresses! But not jealous that you had to plan two weddings. They both look beautiful!
Are you serious?!! Thats amazing. I always say it would be awesome to get married all over again on our anniversary or something.
We were living in Atlanta when we got married so my Ohio family and his Wisconsin family traveled a good deal to make it. A lot of them made a vacation out of it. It was the best party and celebration I could have ever hoped for. However, lots of family couldn't make it and that would have been awesome to at least have a second celebration up north!
I was just telling my husband I wanted to have another wedding so that I could do it my way. I was young when I got married like really young and I had so many people telling me what I needed to do that it all got really confusing, My wedding was beautiful but it wasn't really me (my taste that is)
I might write out my crazy "wedding" story one day!
Thanks for sharing.
xo
heheeh how fun is that!!! i'm not sure we can be friends anymore though b/c i am a wolverine!! my husband is actually a buckeye... and you know that rivalry!! we made all his family/friends come to michigan for our wedding, so i guess i won that battle!! ;)
Wow, how fun to have two weddings! We just had a few of my husband's family with us for our wedding in my home town. But some of them don't speak English. So, one of his brother's officiated the wedding and another translated it into Spanish. (It made for an extremely long wedding... I had no idea how much his brother liked to talk when we asked him to officiate!)
holy cow. you are a smokin' hot bride! love your two dresses!
Um...That would be so fun to have two weddings!! And I hadn't seen a pic of your dress in a while...I loved it by the way!!! What a beautiful bride X's 2!!
I forgot how amazing your Ohio dress was! Celebrity-esque, for sure! :) Your Wisconsin dress was beautiful, as well. And the candles...gotta have the candles! I wanted a candlelight wedding but the church we got married in had huge windows all over (which was beautiful in a different way), so the candles were a no-go. We got married at 6pm...just because I wanted it to be dark...but guess what? Daylight Savings happened the weekend before, so we had that extra hour of daylight. I was bummed...especially because the sparklers didn't have quite the same effect at sunset! haha. We did get lucky, though, and had 70 degree weather...in Ohio...on April 9th! It was perfect. I would love to relive our wedding...so much fun! :)
such a gorgeous and beautiful bride you are!
